ICE-RS cycle 2006-12-14

Summary

The previous cycle marked the real beginning for the ICE-RS project. On the application side the cycle consisted of work to improve how documents are converted and investigative tasks into improving support for MathType. On the administration side the open source server has been setup for USQ staff and an ICE-RS repository has also been setup. The Trac site is also Live so that we can have external user contributions. We have also established a number of pilot users and PHD dissertations to be marked up and converted. This next cycle we will continue work on improvements for the HTML rendering and MathType support and begin piloting ICE for PHD dissertations.

Overview of completed tasks

  • Begin work on using python for producing XHTML from the open document XML

  • ICE open source site to be a live Trac and Subversion repository -

    Access has been setup for USQ staff only at this stage

  • Investigative tasks for ICE-RS such as:

    • Contact potential pilot users -

      2 completed PHD dissertations to be converted, 2 PHD pilots users at writing stage,

    • Contact USQ research support staff

      Presenting to the USQ Early Research Group

Overview of new tasks

  • Continue work on using python for producing XHTML from the open document XML

  • Modifications to improve MathType support

  • Begin marking up pilot PHD dissertations

  • Establish more pilot users

About the cycle notes

The cycle notes are used to summarize the outcomes of the completed cycle and provide stakeholders with an overview of the tasks for the next cycle. They are also used to raise any issues for discussion and provide other information for those who are unable to attend the meetings. Specific information on tasks to be completed are available in the ticketing system, see below.
