ICE toolbar OpenOffice.org extension
Download and install the extension
Use this process for the initial installation.
Download the ICE toolbar extension: ice-toolbar.oxt
Right click on the hyperlink then select Save Target As (Internet Explorer) or Save Link As (Firefox) to Desktop.
Start OpenOffice.org Writer.
From the Menu, select Tools...Extension Manager.
Click the Add button, then browse and select ‘ice-toolbar.oxt’.
Check that the ICE toolbar extension has been enabled by expanding MyExtensions
To view the toolbar create a new document.
Note: If the toolbar doesn't work, try restarting OOo Writer and check that the ICE toolbar is enabled in the ‘Extension Manager’.
Assign a short cut
To make use of short cuts, you must first assign a key for the toolbar. We recommend using ‘Esc’.
From the Menu, select Tools...Customize then select the Keyboard Tab.
From the Category section, select OpenOffice.org Macros...Users...ICE Library... Toolbar.
From the Function section, select ‘eventKeyControl’.
From the Shortcut keys section, select ‘Esc’.
To apply the shortcut, click the Modify button.
Click OK
Download and update the extension
Use this process when the extension has already been installed and an update is required.
Download the ICE toolbar extension: ice-toolbar.oxt
Right click on the hyperlink then select Save Target As (Internet Explorer) or Save Link As (Firefox).
Start OpenOffice.org Writer.
From the Menu, select Tools...Extension Manager.
From the Extension section, expand My Extensions (click the plus sign), select ice-toolbar.oxt then click the Remove button.
Click the Close button.
Close Writer.
From the taskbar, right click on the OpenOffice.org quickstarter icon then select Exit Quickstarter.
Restart OpenOffice.org. From the taskbar Start button, select Programs…OpenOffice.org…OpenOffice.org Writer.
Start OpenOffice.org Writer.
From the Menu, select Tools...Extension Manager.
Click the Add button, then browse to where you downloaded the file and select ‘ice-toolbar.oxt’.
Expand My Extensions and check that the ICE toolbar extension has been enabled in the Status column.
Click the Close button.
Check that the updated toolbar is installed.
