Try ICE 2.x and publish into Wordpress from OpenOffice.org

This document outlines how to setup the unstable version of ICE (2.x) and the OpenOffice.org toolbar for demonstrating so you can convert your document to XHTML via ICE and publish directly to Wordpress from OpenOffice.org.

Note: These steps are currently Windows only for demonstration purposes, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us.

Download the following, note the links are to specific versions of ICE and the toolbar.

  1. Download OpenOffice.org (install using default settings and run Writer to setup your profile)

  2. Download this ICE toolbar for OpenOffice.org (unstable version)

    Install the toolbar using these instructions.

  3. Download ICE 2.x

    Run ice_2.x.exe to install and follow the prompts, note you will not need to run ICE for the purpose of this demo. When you reach the final step Completing the ICE 2 Setup Wizard make sure that the first and last options are selection, you can de-select the rest so that you get:

  4. Get yourself a Wordpress account and blog from http://www.wordpress.com. If you are using your own install of Wordpress you'll need to upgrade to 2.31.

    Important! Your URL to use in Writer for publishing will be: http://yourusername.wordpress.com/wp-app.php

    For example:

  5. You should be now be ready to use the Atom pub button in OpenOffice.org Writer as seen in this demonstration, try it using this sample document.

    Important!: If you are using a proxy add the HTTP_PROXY environment variable in your system preferences and restart OpenOffice.org.
